With the Koutsoyannopoulos family knowledge and historical exhibits, guests will get a glimpse of what life was like as a winemaker here.
This one of a kind museum happens to be nestled in a cave and because of its unique position this natural labyrinth is eight meters below ground and 300 meters long. It took the family twenty one years of hard work, patience, and perseverance to complete the wine museum in this remarkable location, but it was all worth it.
Koutsoyannopoulos family created the museum to share the family’s passion and love for tradition and great wine-making. As fourth-generation wine-makers, they are proud to continue producing high-quality wines with methods passed down through decades of dedicated vinting.
Throughout the museum, there are many representations of what life was like for vine-growers dating all the way back to the 1600’s. While on the tour, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the history of wine through an automatic audio guide available in 14 languages or a guidebook (available in 22 languages).
In about an hour you will see vivid images, you will hear in your language (AUDIO GUIDE) and browse the underground Museum seeing performances on the History of the Santorini’s wine and the islands culture.
At your own pace, you will spend the time that you need to complete your tour. After finishing your tour and learning the history of the wine and wine culture of the island, you will taste a variety of 4 different wines from our winery. Inside the premises you can also see how different the vineyards of Santorini are.
